On the occasion of its 10th anniversary, BTC organises a photo exhibition in Brussels with the aim of giving a new and modern image of development cooperation.
Five top photographers have focused their cameras on BTC projects in Ecuador, Mali, Morocco, DRC and Vietnam. You can see the result on the enclosure of the Royal Park in Brussels until 17 February 2010.
The exhibit ‘Building a fair world’ shows farmers, dressmakers, pupils, a researcher… at their chores in their daily setting. The titles of the photographs highlight the potential of the persons depicted: ‘First Ladies’, ‘Businessman’, ‘Quality manager’ or ‘Parliamentarians’ clearly refer to the choices and opportunities at hand. Proud faces express the conviction that the future is heading the right way.
The message is clear: Official development aid must provide people with the necessary resources to improve their lives while respecting their culture and choices. And the results are obvious: A short text below each of the 24 large photographs summarises the results achieved by the projects so far.
For this exhibit BTC relied on Nadaar, a collective of five top photographers – Eric de Mildt, Tim Dirven, Nick Hannes, Jan Locus and Dieter Telemans – and of course, directly or indirectly, on everybody who is involved in these projects.
From 17 December 2009 until 17 April 2010 (extended)
