New World Bank website offers development statistics in four languages
The World Bank has launched a major new website http://data.worldbank.org. It offers free access to more than 2,000 financial, business, health, economic and human development statistics and is available in English, French, Spanish, and Arabic.
In addition to providing free access to a large number of development indicators which were formerly available by subscription only, the new site allows users to download entire datasets for a particular country or indicator, quickly access raw data, click a button to comment on the data, and email and share data with social media sites. The data come from many sources including the Bank's 186 member countries and more than 30 international agencies, private and NGO partners.
World Bank goes Google
The World Bank also recently partnered with Google to make 34 indicators available through its English search engines and 58 indicators available in its Public Data Explorer tool: http://www.google.com/publicdata/home
