How we fight poverty

Aid efficiency

During the last ten years considerable efforts have been made to improve the quality of development aid. New methods have been developed that better fit the needs of the developing countries themselves. At the same time, donors promised to considerably increase aid over the coming years.

Projects and programmes

Projects and programmes are the most common forms of development cooperation.

Budget support

Budget support is the term used to refer to money of donors that is directly entered on the state budget of the beneficiary country.

Basket funding

Between project support and budget support there are a few hybrid aid forms. An important hybrid aid form is ‘so-called’ basket funding.

Delegated cooperation

Delegated cooperation is an aid modality in which donors entrust part of their development funds to another donor.

Scholarships

Training, the transfer of knowledge and acquiring skills are essential to enable partner countries to take on their own development and fight poverty.
