Delegated cooperation
Delegated cooperation is an aid modality in which donors entrust part of their development funds to another donor.
For instance, through delegated cooperation Belgium can receive money from the UK to execute projects in Congo. After all, our country is considered an experienced expert in Central Africa.
Likewise, Belgium can decide to entrust development funds to Spain for projects in Latin America because the Spanish know the continent better.
The objective of delegated cooperation is to make development aid more effective. Pooling funds creates economies of scale, and it is also advantageous for the beneficiary country because it has less partners to deal with.
