What is BTC ?

The Belgian development agency, BTC, mobilises its resources and its expertise to eliminate poverty in the world.
 

Legal framework

The Belgian Law of 1999 on International Cooperation lays down the objectives and priorities of Belgian development cooperation.
 

Organisation

BTC is a public-law company with social purposes, established by the Law of 21 December 1998.
 

Who we work for

BTC works for the Belgian government and for other commissioners. BTC's main commissioner is the Belgian State, namely the Directorate-General for Development Cooperation (DGDC).

Partnerships & alliances

Developing and maintaining partnerships and alliances in Belgium and abroad is one of the strategic priorities of BTC.
 

Key figures

BTC manages more than 300 projects in some 20 countries in Africa, Asia and Latin America. In 2009, the agency's turnover totalled more than 237 million euro.

Corporate Social Responsibility

The social purpose of BTC is to achieve sustainable human development, and doing so, BTC also wants to take on its responsibility at the social and environmental level. To that end, BTC develops a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) policy.
